Central Supplier Database

The central supplier database is a database run by the government. The database is intended to create upkeep suppliers’ profiles. All companies have to register if they intend to apply for government contracts. The following details are kept on the database:

  • Company ownership
  • BEE status
  • Main business activity
  • Tax status

It is important to keep these details up to date. The details of the company are automatically compared to the details kept by CIPC and SARS. It is therefore important to keep the company’s tax affairs up to date, as the company will not be considered for contracts should the tax show as non compliant.
