What is a tax directive?

If an employee earns a commission as remuneration, he or she can apply at SARS for a tax directive. A tax directive is a document from SARS that instructs the employer to deduct employee tax at a set percentage. In order to apply for a directive, an estimation of the employee’s income and expenses must be submitted to SARS.
